Mumbai has broken a 107-year-old rainfall record. Due to persistent monsoon rains, several parts of the city are submerged. Transportation and air travel services have been severely disrupted. Rescue teams and administration are engaged in relief operations. Citizens have been advised to stay indoors and remain cautious. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai and surrounding districts like Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms.
