In the end, Pakistan has bowed before India. After India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a desperate Pakistan—anxious for every drop of water—is now ready for peace talks. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue on key issues such as Kashmir, terrorism, the Indus Waters Treaty, and trade. Arriving in Tehran from Turkey, Shehbaz stated during a joint press conference that, “We are ready to hold discussions with India on issues like Kashmir, the Indus Waters Treaty, terrorism, and trade. We are neighbors, and peace is our priority. However, if India attacks, we will respond. But if India accepts our peace proposal, we are prepared for honest dialogue.”
