Delhi’s air pollution remains out of control, with air quality continuing to deteriorate to extremely poor levels. As of 6 a.m. today, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 456. Hundreds of flights were cancelled, while around 300 flights were delayed. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) stated that this is the second-worst AQI of the current season. Dense fog, severe air pollution, and respiratory problems have forced many Delhi residents to consider moving elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has expressed serious concern over the pollution situation, stating that people are not changing their lifestyles and that issued guidelines are not being followed. The court also observed that economically weaker sections are the worst affected by pollution. A major hearing on Delhi’s pollution issue will be held in the Supreme Court on the 17th.
